SEO is the act of "fine tuning" or changing a website, so that it is easier for a search engine to index. SEO also includes certain activities that a webmaster can do to increase a website position in the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). Some of the activities are acceptable to do, they are known as "White Hat" techniques. The flip side is "Black Hat". These webmasters cheat their way to good position. It is short lived because "black hatters" rarely stay at the top for long.
